I Will Be CurledUp

I have just received a large box of books which marks the start of my tenure as a review for Curled Up With a Good Book or curledup.com. I just hope I haven’t gotten myself in over my head by selecting too many books with which to begin. Perusing the list I got a little book hungry and chose 12 books to be sent to me. My reading load has just gotten quite large. The box included 9 novels and 3 non-fiction books. Three of the 12 were already on my TBR list, another 2 I had heard of and 7 were previously unknown to me. It should be exciting. The list is as follows:

I think I will begin with Soon I Will Be Invincible as it is one of those already on my TBR list. My reviews of these books will only run on curledup.com but I will link to them here when they appear on that site. Now, I think I’d better get reading…

Oh, and as you can see, my wife likes lighthouses!

  1. I know the feeling of wondering if you’ve gotten in over your head. I have so many review books on the way. Whooo! I just let myself be excited by all the wonderful titles, and that tends to give me the energy and drive to take care of it. :)

  2. Just out of curiosity, are you reviewing the books in exchange for a free book or does the site pay you for your writing?

  3. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of the Amis – I tried and could not get into it. In fact, I’ve yet to make it through a single one of his books – have you read anything of his?

  4. Heather – It was exciting to get all of those books, but overwhelming too. I haven’t started on any of them yet but plan to later this week.

marydell – I find myself trying to determine what answer you’re hoping for, but I guess I can only answer truthfully… :) They do not pay for reviews so I suppose the review is in exchange for the free book.

Ted – I have not read anything by Amis. I’ve heard good things about this book but I have no idea what to expect. The one draw back to reviewing books like this is that I can’t exactly quit reading one I don’t like.

  5. I love getting review books but then I freak out because I also want to read “my” books and then I start falling behind. Anyway good luck and congrats on reviewing for Curledup. I love visiting that site.

  6. I wasn’t hoping for any answer in particular. Mostly, I was wondering how they go about getting their reviews.

  7. Hope you enjoy “Fish of Souls.” It’s actually the first book in a trilogy but can be read as a stand alone story.

  8. I will be interested in your review of “Crashing Through.” One of my favorite non-fiction books in the last 5 years was Kurson’s “Shadow Divers.” Though it was originally the subject matter that drew me to the book I was amazed at Robert Kurson’s ability to tell a story.

  9. iliana – Thanks! Yeah, it’s a struggle mixing what you want to read with what you have to read for reviews. Luckily they a few of them are in both categories and I think the rest of them sound very interesting.

marydell – I guess I was thinking too much when I read your comment. :)

Gary Williams – Thanks for stopping by! I did not know it was the first of a trilogy. I am looking forward to reading Fish of Souls and hope to get to it soon.

Tim – I have heard very good things about Shadow Divers. Depending on how I like Crashing Through I might have to pick it up.

  10. Currently it appears like WordPress is the top blogging platform out there right now.

(from what I’ve read) Is that what you are using on your blog?
