Blindness, Coming Soon to a Theater Near You…

I have just discovered that a film adaptation of the novel Blindness is in the works. The info came from a post on Cinematical which mentions that Daniel Craig will no longer be playing the role of the doctor. I had no idea this was being made into a movie. I am definitely interested in seeing how it will turnout.

The always wonderful movie site IMDB.com has a page up for the film, but so far only lists three cast members, one of which we just learned has dropped out, and another who’s role has not yet been specified. The director is a Brazilian named Fernando Meirelles, his films include City of God and The Constant Gardener, neither of which I’ve seen.

I thought I’d post this little bit of information as there have been quite a few people, including myself, blogging about the book recently.

  1. After seeing Casino Royale, I’d see ANYTHING with Daniel Craig. Too bad he isn’t going to be in the movie now. City of God was Fantastic!! GREAT movie. Subtitled. The Constant Gardener was good, but actually a tad on the boring side. Took too long to draw out the plot (or at least it did to me. I think I was nominated for a ton of awarsds, so I’m probably the only one that thought so!)

  2. Stephanie – I enjoyed Casino Royale, and thought Daniel Craig did a great job. I’m just guessing, but I think part of your reasoning for seeing anything starring Daniel Craig may not apply to me… 🙂

  3. A movie of Blindness! That is awesome news. I hope they do it right, oh how I hope they do it right.

  4. Wow. That’s great news. Or terrible news. Geez, I don’t know what to think. Thanks for the heads up.
